Termly Art Programme

Charcoal

Our classes cover all mediums and are designed to develop techniques over the course of a 12 week term. We take inspiration from beautiful Yorkshire in the art that we do and our workspace provides wonderful opportunities to work both indoors and out. Working at a pace suited to you, we aim to bring out the best in each person and encourage you to develop your own style. You will be amazed at what you can achieve and how far you can progress in just a few sessions.
Our class sizes are intentionally chosen, allowing Hannah to devote meaningful time to each participant so you can progress individually.
We warmly invite you to enrol in future courses as each programme introduces a unique project, ensuring you’ll never repeat the same activity twice. This approach ensures that each time you join us, you’ll tackle fresh challenges and continue to expand your abilities. Returning students benefit from a programme that evolves with their skills, offering opportunities for continual personal and artistic growth.
The Thirsty Learner Difference
Every class with The Thirsty Learner supports both your creativity and a local charitable cause. When you join us, you’re not just learning a new skill-you’ll also be given opportunity to help Gifted Smile, an organisation founded by our own Lisa. It's sole purpose is to bring comfort to individuals facing cancer by providing a Hug in a Bag or Special Treat to those on this journey.

With each course, The Thirsty Learner quietly offers a Special Treat in the way of a complimentary place to someone facing cancer, giving them a relaxing outlet to enjoy time away from treatment. Looking ahead, we hope to work with our classmates to create pieces of artwork that can be made into merchandise like calendars showcasing our artwork with all proceeds going to the 2 charities supported by Gifted Smile. Once a month, there will be a completely optional fun wrap-hour, where participants of classes can help prepare Treatment Bags which get handed out in local hospitals. None of this is obligatory, but just available for those who wish to and are able. This is what makes The Thirsty Learner unique—a community of people eager to learn, connect, and give back.
Class Venue
Harewood Village Hall - Harewood House Estate
In designing our courses – there were a few things we didn’t want to settle for. Finding the right tutor was paramount-someone with the zest, enthusiasm, and depth of knowledge to truly inspire. As you can see in Hannah’s biography below, we more than succeeded here. But just as important was the venue itself.
We want our classes to feel far more than a three-hour lesson; we want each session to feel like a pocket-sized retreat-a space where every participant leaves feeling recharged and reset.
Yorkshire has so much to boast, that capturing it in our art feels like a blessing and we wanted surroundings that would allow the magic of each season to be absorbed.
The venue, Harewood Village Hall is surrounded by beautiful, unspoilt Yorkshire countryside and protected parkland, teeming with native wildlife. This tranquil setting is the perfect location we set out to find.
With Muddy Boots adjoining cafe, attending one of our classes can feel like a real treat day if you choose to indulge in lunch before or after your class. This welcoming space offers a comfortable, stylish setting to savour your meal and connect with fellow learners. There is free parking at the Village Hall and easy access into the building for all.

"Hannah can naturally identify the positive aspects of a piece of work, while sensitively suggesting how it may be improved.
On a personal level, Hannah is very warm, patient and encouraging, with a keen sense of humour and a genuine interest in others. I look forward to her classes and always come away feeling I have learnt something new.
